Despite the Job Creation Law, Palm Oil HGUs Remain Valid

Palm oil associations and entrepreneurs believe that the Land Use Rights (HGU) held by industry players cannot be conflicted with the Job Creation Law, especially as long as the HGU was issued before the Omnibus Law on Job Creation came into effect. Bustanul Arifin, Chairman of the Indonesian Agricultural Economics Association (Perhepi), stated that the designation of forest areas containing oil palm plantations was due to confusion in the licensing process. This has led to controversy among business players.
